Ukraine: EU shares experience on harmonisation of pesticide management legislation

EU Member States' experience on harmonisation of national legislation with the EU Directives and Regulations on plant protection products, management of pesticides, import control, use and storage of these products is the focus of a two day workshop scheduled to take place in Kyiv, Ukraine between 17 and 18 March 2016. The event is organised by the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument of the European Commission (TAIEX) following a request from the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine.
Experts from Italy, Latvia and Poland will talk about the structure and organisational aspects of state control in the field of plant protection and pesticides life cycle, criteria for evaluating environmental and economic assessment of pesticides usage for growing crops and other issues. The Ukrainian participants, who represent the relevant central and regional authorities as well as the state control and toxicological laboratories, will also discuss the relevant EU legislation regulating these areas.
TAIEX is the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument of the European Commission. It is a demand-driven tool that supports partner countries with the approximation of national laws, regulations and quality standards to those of EU Member States in the framework of Cooperation or Association agreements signed with the EU. TAIEX Assistance is given through expert missions, workshops or seminars and study visits.
