TAIEX addresses combatting drug trafficking in Moldova

The Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument of the European Commission (TAIEX) will hold a workshop in Chisinau, Moldova from 29 February to 1 March 2016 on combatting drug trafficking in the country. Organised in co-operation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, General Police Inspectorate, the event will gather law enforcement authorities and other relevant institutions in Moldova to discuss ways of reducing the supply and trafficking of illicit drugs.
The two day workshop will also focus on the interpretation of the international and European legal framework aimed at combating the trafficking of illicit drugs. The event will present best practices from Sweden and Spain on methods for stepping up detection, efficient investigations and international cooperation when it comes to  combatting drug trafficking as well as the role of police in this process. According to the workshop agenda, the participants will also discuss ways of tackling money laundering, tax evasion and other forms of financial crimes related to drug trafficking.
TAIEX is the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument of the European Commission. It is a demand-driven tool that supports partner countries with regard to the approximation, application and enforcement of EU legislation. TAIEX Assistance is given through expert missions, workshops or seminars and study visits.
