Moldova: EU senior officials visit in preparation for Association Council

February 29, 2016

The Delegation of the European Union to Moldova reports that senior EU officials visited the country in preparation for the EU-Moldova Association Council set to take place in Brussels. The visit follows the latest EU Council Conclusions where the EU reaffirmed its commitment to the country and called on the government to prioritise reforms, especially those in line with the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area.

The visit was conducted by Christian Danielsson, Director General of the European Commission for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, and Thomas Mayr-Harting, Managing Director of the European External Action Service, reports the EU Delegation’s press service. They met with Moldovan authorities in Chisinau to discuss a priority reform action roadmap and prepare the Association Council between Moldova and the European Union.

As recently reported by the EU Neighbourhood Info Centre, the Foreign Ministers of the European Union adopted Council Conclusions on the Republic of Moldova on 15 February 2016. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
