Mogherini meets Speaker of Ukraine's Parliament

March 3, 2016

The current situation in Ukraine as well as the country’s ongoing work on the reform agenda were the focus of a meeting between the EU High Representative Federica Mogherini and the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada (the Parliament of Ukraine) Volodymyr Groysman that took place in Brussels on 2 March 2016. The two sides agreed that an urgent way out from the current political crisis is needed to maintain the clear and strong focus on the economic and political reform process, reports the press office of the European Union External Action Service.

The High Representative highlighted the important role that the Ukrainian Parliament is playing to drive reform in the country, including through the adoption of several important laws related to the implementation of the Visa Liberalisation Action Plan. Mogherini and Groysman also stressed the need for full implementation of the Minsk Agreements.

As  reported earlier by the EU Neighbourhood Info Centre, Speaker Groysman participated in the “Ukraine week” hosted by the European Parliament in Brussels between 29 February and 2 March 2016. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
