Georgia: EU helps people with disabilities to find a job

May 26, 2017

An EU-funded job fair took place on 25 May in Tbilisi. Over 100 jobseekers met with 28 potential employers from the private sector. The job fair followed on from earlier job fairs in the regions and has established itself as a successful networking platform for jobseekers with disabilities and potential employers.

Employers such as Retail Group Georgia, Adjara Group (Holiday inn, Rooms Hotels, Fabrika), Smart Retail, Wendy’s, Dunkin’ Donuts, Palitra Group, VTB Bank Georgia, Tegeta Motors, Tbilisi and Courtyard Marriott were present at the fair to offer vacancies and internship programmes to people with disabilities who are looking for employment.

This job fair was organised in the framework of the “Educate, Employ, Advocate and Legislate for Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities” project, which is funded by the European Union with a total budget of EUR 377,981. The aim of the project is to contribute to sustainable, inclusive socio-economic development through improved transitions from training to employment. To date, 106 people have been registered as jobseekers in the project’s database, 195 have received career training and 127 have already found jobs.
