Civil protection: focus on lessons learned in Minsk workshop on disaster management

Civil protection experts from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine, as well as EU Member States, took part in a regional workshop held in the Belarusian capital Minsk on 27-28 September, focusing on the importance of lessons learned in disaster response. The workshop was part of preparations for a major regional field exercise to be held in Moldova next year, as part of the EU funded programme on Prevention, Preparedness, and Response to Natural and Man-made Disasters in the Eastern Partnership Region (PPRD East 2).
The training course was designed to strength disaster risk management capacities at the national level in EaP countries and to ensure regional cooperation with the EU Civil Protection Mechanism
The PPRD East 2 programme aims to protect the environment, population, cultural heritage, resources and infrastructures of the region by strengthening the countries’ resilience, preparedness and response to man-made disasters and disasters caused by natural hazards. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
