EU experts bring information technologies into migration management

The European Commission, in cooperation with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Mission in Ukraine, is organising a meeting on 27-28 October in Latvian capital Riga for migration management experts from the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries (Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia and Moldova), who are involved in the development and implementation of information and communication technologies (ICT). The event aims to showcase new technologies for migration management for security, migration and border control agencies, and solutions for tackling irregular migration and the planning of national migration policies.

 

The participants will also share best practices of the various national systems of the Eastern Partnership countries and EU Member States, present innovative ICT solutions in the field of migration, which have already launched, and examples of improvements to migration management system.

 

The IOM is the leading intergovernmental organisation in the field of migration dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration challenges, and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people.
