University graduates with a thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the EU who are interested to learn about the work of the European Parliament (EP) are invited to participate in the traineeship programme at the EP offices in Brussels and Strasbourg this year. Three types of traineeships are offered to applicants from EU and candidate countries. In addition,  10% of spots have been allocated to the third country nationals, including those from the EU Neighbourhood countries.

The deadline for applications is 15 May 2016. The successful candidates will receive a unique opportunity to see the work of the Parliament from inside, and contribute to its day-today activities.

The Parliament offers the following three types of traineeships:
-           general option, open to any candidate who meets the criteria;
-           the journalism option for candidates with proven professional experience in journalism;
-        the Sakharov Prize option to candidates interested to enhance their knowledge of the EP's human rights work and international human rights standards.

The duration of the traineeships varies according to the option the university graduates are applying for. More information on the eligibility and application process is available on the EP traineeship page.  According to EP, every year, around 25,000 people apply for a traineeship at the Parliament and only 600 of them are selected.
