Young European Ambassadors participate in science fair in Georgia

October 4, 2019

On 28 September, Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) in Georgia participated in a science fair organised by Ilia State University in the country’s capital of Tbilisi.

The annual event brought together local and international education institutions and organisations to promote their activities in the field of science and engage with a young audience.

The YEAs initiative was presented in a separate tent where participating YEAs from Georgia organised several activities promoting the EU, its support of research, innovation and science and EU-funded opportunities in the field of education available for Georgian youth.

YEAs prepared a quiz to promote the EU’s support of science and EU-funded youth opportunities and distributed small promotional gifts. Additionally, YEAs carried out experiments to attract young visitors and encourage them to be more interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.

The ‘Young European Ambassadors initiative aims to foster cooperation and sustainable links between young people and youth organisations from the EU and its Eastern partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

The YEAs are the driving force of the ‘Young European Neighbours’ network, an online platform facilitating the mutual exchange of ideas and information on the EU, as well as the engagement of young people in informative activities.

The network focuses on dialogue-driven activities that contribute to a greater awareness and improved perception of the EU, and the enhanced assessment of its relations with the Eastern Neighbourhood.
