Ukraine: Journalists invited to take part in EU-funded social media workshop
January 24, 2017
The Thomson Foundation and the Institute for Regional Media and Information, supported by the EU, invite regional TV and online journalists to attend a three-day workshop on how to create videos for social media in Dnipro, Ukraine between February 6 and 8. Those interested are invited to fill out the online application form by January 26.
The workshop will focus on editing skills for TV and social media, aiming to foster cooperation between journalists from different regions by exchanging footage and creating video-clips using the “Regional Voices Hub” – a platform incorporating videos and interviews from internally displaced people (IDP), civil society representatives, volunteers and local residents across ten regions in Ukraine.
During the three-day session, journalists will work in teams to produce and edit videos drawing parallels between IDP situations in two of the following regions: Dnipro and Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava, Odessa, Vinnytsia, Lviv and others.
The Regional Voices project supports regional outlets and civil society organisations, assisting IDPs in Ukraine. The project offers a wide range of direct in-field production assistance to regional media, and encourages inter-regional cooperation among journalists through mentoring sessions.
