Georgian organic food producers go global during BioFach 2019

March 11, 2019

Companies from Georgia recently secured more than €600,000 worth of orders from international buyers at BioFach 2019, the world’s leading trade fair for organic products, in Nuremberg, Germany.

Producers from Georgia exhibited a variety of organic products at the trade fair, including herbs, juices and teas.

The participating companies are beneficiaries of the International Trade Centre’s “Eastern Partnership: Ready to Trade” project, funded by the EU under its EU4Business initiative, which aims to connect small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from Eastern Europe to global markets.

During the business-to-business meetings, Georgian companies established more than 60 new business contacts with leading companies from the EU, Canada and Taiwan, and received orders for their organic products from 15 buyers. Pomegranate juice and herbal tea were among the products that drew the most attention.

The Eastern Partnership: Ready to Trade project helps SMEs to access new markets with a focus on the EU, helping them identify and comply with quality and standards to meet international requirements, linking them with buyers along the value chain, and providing cluster support.
