Georgia: Young European Ambassadors to participate in Batumi International Conference and engage with local youth

July 5, 2019

On 11–12 July, 16 Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) from Georgia will participate in the international conference “Georgia’s European Way”, which will be held in the coastal city of Batumi.

The event will bring together high-level officials and representatives from academia, the non-governmental sector and business sector from the EU and its six Eastern partner countries.

The conference will be dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership and will assess progress with the 20 deliverables for 2020 and current geopolitical context.

On the second day of the conference, the YEAs will meet with Lawrence Meredith, Director for Neighbourhood East at the European Commission’s Directorate General  for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR).

In addition to participating in the event, the YEAs are planning a civic engagement activity at Europe Square in Batumi and a small training seminar for local youth interested in getting more information about the opportunities provided by EU4Business initiative.

The “Young European Ambassadors initiative aims to foster cooperation and sustainable links between young people and youth organisations from the EU and its Eastern partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

The YEAs are the driving force of the “Young European Neighbours” network, an online platform that facilitates the mutual exchange of ideas and information on the EU, as well as the engagement of young people in informative activities. It is focused on people-to-people contacts and dialogue-driven activities that contribute to greater awareness and improved perception of the EU and the enhanced assessment of its relations with the Eastern Neighbourhood.
