EU4Energy: New methodology for calculation of tariffs in Moldova

July 5, 2018

The National Energy Regulatory Agency of Moldova (ANRE) was presented with the final draft methodology for the calculation, approval and application of tariffs for the Electricity Market Operator in Moldova on 27 June, developed by the Energy Community under the EU4Energy Programme.

The technical assistance included a review of the current status of the Moldovan electricity market and its regulatory and legislative framework and the identification of the most suitable financing and tariff models for the Moldovan electricity market.

Both the financing and tariff models were thoroughly reviewed and scrutinised through an open consultation process with representatives of the working group led by ANRE and the Energy Community Secretariat. The next steps are for the ANRE to adopt the proposed methodology, which will ensure compliance with Moldova’s commitments under the Energy Community Treaty.

The EU4Energy Programme aims to improve the quality of energy data and statistics, shape regional policy-making discussions, strengthen legislative and regulatory frameworks and improve access to information in the partner countries. The Programme forms a key component of the EU4Energy Initiative.
