EU supports innovation at Ukraine’s leading private postal service

April 5, 2018

A new parcel sorting technology will be installed in Ukraine’s biggest private postal company “Nova Poshta LLC”, thanks to a new loan recently announced through the project supported by EU and Global Environment Facility. The loan will be provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The recipient company has 2,300 branches across Ukraine. The seven-year loan of €9.5 million will serve to promote better postal logistics infrastructure in Ukraine. It will be also used to introduce new technologies that will also contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions.

The project will support the construction of an automated parcel-sorting terminal in the city of Khmelnytskyi, western Ukraine, the introduction of automated parcel sorting technology by the end of 2019 and the improvement of fleet utilisation by 25 per cent on inter-city routes by the end of 2020. It will also aim to reduce the company’s annual CO2 emissions by 1,570 tonnes by the end of 2020.
