Armenia: Young European Ambassadors meet Head of EU and discuss future plans

October 7, 2019

On 5 and 6 October, 35 newly selected and existing Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) from Armenia met for an induction day in the country’s capital of Yerevan.

The YEAs were welcomed by the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin.

After an informal session with Ambassador Wiktorin, the YEAs had chance to get a closer look into the past civic engagement activities and initiatives of the YEAs network in Armenia, as well as to attend a social media training to improve their skills in digital communication.

Earlier in September, 26 young Armenians joined the 44 existing Armenian YEAs, bringing the country’s total number to 70.

The Young European Ambassadors initiative aims to foster cooperation and sustainable links between young people and youth organisations from the EU and its Eastern partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

The YEAs are the driving force of the ‘Young European Neighbours’ network, an online platform facilitating the mutual exchange of ideas and information on the EU, as well as the engagement of young people in informative activities.

The network is focused on dialogue-driven activities that contribute to a greater awareness and improved perception of the EU, and the enhanced assessment of its relations with the Eastern Neighbourhood.
