Armenia: EU expert mission on monitoring the quality of water intended for human consumption

Between 14 and 18 October, experts from Croatia and Czechia will visit Armenia to provide guidance to the country on the implementation of EU Council Directive 98/83/EC on the quality of water intended for human consumption.

The representatives of  Armenia’s Ministry of Health’s National Centre of Disease Control and Prevention and will be presented with the general obligations stipulated by the Council Directive and its implementation in practice regarding technical and methodological capacities of a monitoring system.

The experts will provide best practice advice on the organisation, sampling and laboratory analysis of the collected samples as well as on conducting official controls. They will also describe in detail relevant policies, the roles of each institution in the water quality control chain, water supply management, sanitary technical requirements for water supply facilities, monitoring systems, laboratory accreditation and approval requirements, establishing a database and reporting.

The expert mision was organised by the European Commission’s Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX) in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Armenia.
