16 Moldova – Ukraine cross-border cooperation teams receive grants from European Union

The leaders of 16 cross-border partnerships gathered together in Chisinau on February 1, 2017 for the solemn grant contracts signing ceremony under Moldova – Ukraine Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation Programme. The award ceremony was jointly organized by the EaPTC Support Programme and the EaPTC Managing Authority - GIZ.
High ranking officials of central and regional executive authorities, EU Delegations, Managing Authority, representatives of civil society organisations, business circles, national, regional and local media of both countries took part in the event.
“We rely heavily on the collaboration with development partners, including the cross-border cooperation programs, as an opportunity to expand relations and cooperation between the EU and Eastern partners", underlined Vasile Bîtca, Minister of Regional Development and Construction of the Republic of Moldova.
According to Erikas Jankauskas, Team Leader of the Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation Support Programme, "cross-border cooperation between Moldova and Ukraine will cover all areas of citizen life and create a favorable environment for the priorities and joint actions development between central and local authorities, local communities and NGOs from both countries".
16 awarded projects are almost proportionally distributed among the objectives and priorities defined by the Programme: improving the living conditions of local communities, addressing common cross-border challenges, education, culture and sport. The overall amount made available by the EU under the Moldova-Ukraine Programme is 3.3 million EUR.
