EU-backed cross-border project helps find sustainable waste management solutions for Moldova and Ukraine

On February 8, 2018, launching conference of the cross-border project "Step by Step Towards Separate Collection of the Solid Waste” brought together representatives of local authorities and public institutions, educational establishments, specialized entities responsible for waste management and agricultural entrepreneurs, NGOs and the media from Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova. The event took place at the Falesti District Council.

In her opening speech, President of the Falesti District Council Mrs. Iraida Bînzari highlighted the importance of this initiative for the region. Representatives of the project implementation consortium presented the main project objectives, planned activities and expected results.

"Step by Step Towards Separate Collection of the Solid Waste" is a cross-border project, co-funded by the European Union under the Moldova – Ukraine Eastern Partnerhsip Territorial Cooperation Programme.The project will help citizens of the neighbourong municipalities of Moldova and Ukraine get a cleaner environment and improved waste management system. The project will last 14 months, it’s total budget is 299 000 Euro.
