USAID Loan Portfolio Guarantee for Bank Republic

Areas of Support:
USAID extended a Development Credit Authority (DCA) loan portfolio guarantee for lending up to $6,000,000 to Bank Republic to extend commercial credit to the agricultural and non-agricultural sectors, or any activity that contributes to improved technology or increased employment in Georgia. About 50% of loans are extended to the agricultural sector.

VOLKSWAGEN FOUNDATION

Areas of Support:
The Volkswagen Foundation (VolkswagenStiftung) is dedicated to the support of the humanities and social sciences as well as science and technology in higher education and research. It funds research projects in path-breaking areas and provides assistance to academic institutions for the improvement of the structural conditions for their work. In particular, the Foundation perceives its mission in supporting aspiring young researchers and in promoting interdisciplinary and international collaboration.

Form of Support:
The funding initiative “Between Europe and the Orient – A Focus on Research and Higher Education in/on Central Asia and the Caucasus” is to support either projects that deal with current local developments or that are structurally anchored in the region. Support covers collaborative research in selected thematic areas and for a number of measures
