Belarus Brest The Final Conference of Safe Childhood Project takes place in Brest

The Final Conference of Safe Childhood Project took place in the International Volunteer Young Firefighters Centre in Brest, Belarus, on 23-24 November 2018.

Safe Childhood Project implemented within EaPTC Belarus-Ukraine Programme was implemented from 1 December 2017 to 1 December 2018. The project budget made 173 550 Euro.

The aim of the project is to create safe living conditions for children from the border regions of Belarus and Ukraine. The action aims to attract attention to the issue of prophylactics of traumatism and death of minors from fire. The partners of the project were the Brest Oblast Department for Emergencies and Volunteer Firefighters’ Association of Volyn Oblast, Ukraine. The partners joined their efforts with the aim of widening the opportunities of the primary educational institutions in the area of teaching kinds the basic principles of everyday safety and security, joining the teachers and parents in their efforts to form basic knowledge in these areas among minors.

The Belarusian and Ukrainian partners summarized the results of the project during the final conference, discussed the implemented scheme “Simple steps: From an Idea to a Result”. The participants of the conference attended the exhibition of children’ art works and reviewed the practical results in Kindergarten No. 80 in Brest city.

The second day of the conference was devoted to the sector discussions and drafting social projects by groups of school students.

The conference was finalized by a concert by children ensembles performing shows on the topic of safe childhood.

To commemorate the project the participants of the conference planted trees on the alley near the International Volunteer Young Firefighters Centre.

The project included drafting and publication of practical guides on everyday safety and security for children and teachers, video manuals, information leaflets and placards, education programs and scenario of thematic meetings and shows for primary education institutions.

A contest of thematic social project designs was held among school students of Brest and Volyn Oblasts. The main approach was to apply the most contemporary pedagogic approaches in teaching minors to safety and security.

All the project deliverables will be applied to the educational process in kindergartens and schools across Brest Oblast in Belarus and Volyn Oblast in Ukraine by agreement with corresponding local authorities.

Two educational and methodological centers have been established in Brest and Lutsk. These centers will provide for direct liaison between the educational systems of the two countries and the system of preventing emergencies in two countries.
