Summary of the action


Objectives of the actionTo facilitate the integration and proactive social inclusion of children with disabilities in the Ganja-Gazakh region of Azerbaijan and the Kvemo-Kartli region of Georgia through building their skills and confidence and through the promotion of the role of the local communities’ and families in the social inclusion of children with special needs.
Target groups
  • 110 children with disabilities (6 months-18 years of age),
  • their parents and CSOs working in the disability field
Main activities
  • Increasing learning opportunities, quality of life and inclusion of children with disabilities;
  • Raising awareness among the general public including children with
  • disabilities (CWDs) and their families on the rights of people with disabilities:
  • Providing psychosocial support for CWDs and their parents to enhance family integration;
  • Strengthening capacities of local CSOs working in disability field through training sessions and transfer of best practices.
Project results
  • Improved social inclusion and quality of life of target CWDs;
  • Improved access to educational opportunities for CWDs;
  • Enhanced public awareness and changed public perception of people with disabilities;
  • Reduced barriers to social inclusion of CWDs in the local community
  • Increased capacity of CSOs to provide social services to CWDs;
  • Improved cross-border cooperation between key stakeholders in Azerbaijan and Georgia.
